Whether you are a mother, a father, a student, or someone that is just moving out into the world on their own, there are certain things that you should undoubtedly had. Sure, there are the obvious things such as a couch, a bed, and a computer that should be in every individual’s home, but what about cookware?
When it comes to things for the house, people often overlook what items that they are going to need for cooking and preparing meals and generally are left completely clueless as to just what they are going to need in order to make sure that their kitchen is fully functional.
If you are wondering just what to purchase in order to make sure that you have all of the necessary tools to make delicious meals, then read through this article that I have compiled in order to see just what I consider some of the absolute essentials when it comes to cookware.
Non-Stick Pans
If you are like most people, chances are that more than once you have been through the motions of having to scrape off disgusting and slimy scrambled eggs off of a pan that didn’t get soaked in time. This is not only incredibly repulsive, but it also can damage your pans. Because of the amount of force that you have to put behind scrubbing all of the food from the pan, it will scratch up the material and in the long run make it more ineffective.
When you use a non-stick pan, you don’t have to worry about this problem. The material (Teflon) is specifically created to prevent any food from bonding to the cookware and making a situation that can prove to be incredibly difficult to deal with.
Heavy Bottom Pan With Lid
Call it whatever you like. Known as a sauté pan, a chef’s pan, these items of cookware are one of the most used pieces in my kitchen. The great thing about sauté pans is that they have so many uses to them. One of my favourite things to do with mine is to create a scrumptious homemade pasta sauce that goes great with both main courses of meals and also breadsticks!
Sauté pans are also wonderful if you have children because of their versatile uses. Everything from the pasta sauce that I previously mentioned, to steaming vegetables, to making a nice warm homemade soup on a cold winter day, sauté pans are indefinitely one of the most useful pieces of kitchen cookware.
High Heat Silicone Spatula
This is one item that many people never even consider, but I definitely deem it as essential. Why? Well, if you have already followed a piece of my advice and invested in a non-stick pan then you do not want to be using a metal spatula. Metal will scratch up the Teflon and will decrease the effectiveness, thus making the entire purpose of a non-stick pan, pointless.
A high heat silicone spatula will provide you with a reliable product that you will not have to worry about ruining your expensive non-stick cookware.
A Blender
An absolute must have in my house is a good quality blender. It will allow for you to make some yummy fruit smoothies from scratch, and you will also be able to chop up nuts for a number of different uses.
Instead of spending $4 on a medium-sized smoothie from your favourite chain store, you can spend that money on some frozen fruit from your local grocery store and use it to make a homemade smoothie. One of my favourite parts about this is that you know exactly what is going into your snack, versus having to worry about added sugars. You will also be able to add proteins and vitamins to the smoothie to help you make it as healthy as possible.
A Food Processor
If your family is anything like mine, homemade soups during the winter are a very common occurrence. It can be incredibly difficult to make sure that all of your ingredients are blended together properly, which is where a food processor comes in handy.
A food processor will puree all of your vegetables together with just the press of a button. Forget about having to spend all of that time with a mixer and chopping your ingredients up. Just simply put the food into the process, press, and let it do its job.
