After the introduction of some of the recent cooking shows on television, it seems as though most everyone wants to be the next best chef in the world. While not all of us have that talent, there are certain items that everyone should have in order to be able to achieve ultimate food haven for themselves and their family.
A Sauté Pan
Call it what you will, the sauté pan is a device of many names. A wok, a covered skillet, a chef’s pan, it honestly doesn’t matter what you refer to it as, as long as you have one. These pieces of cookware provide you with the ability to cook up some homemade pasta sauce, soups, and also they are able to be placed in the oven because of their lids, which allows for you to cook a variety of meats in it as well. Honestly, I don’t use many other items other than this in my house. It really does do everything.
When you are selecting a sauté pan, it is best to look for one with a copper bottom on it. Since copper is the best metal for conducting heat, you will get faster and better results with this material.
A Food Processor
If your family loves foods such as homemade soups and hummus, the food processor is an absolute must have. Perfect for those cold winter nights when all you want to do is curl up by the fire and eat something nice and hot, a food processor will allow for you to mix up and combine foods with great ease, without any hassle.
With a food processor, all that you have to do is simply put your ingredients in, press the “start’ button, and let it go. Once it is done chopping everything up and mixing it together, you will have a meal that will have been ready in less than 5 minutes!
A Dutch Oven
No, this is not a literal oven. A Dutch oven is a cast iron pot that is coated in special enamel that is designed to cook at a slow, but very efficient rate. Unlike the quality of traditional cooking pots for the oven, a Dutch oven provides a very rich and succulent taste.
Individuals often use this product for meals such as meat loaf or roasts because they are able to cook them without having to worry about burning anything.
Just One Good Knife
You don’t necessarily need an entire set of chef-quality knives to become a great cook. In all honesty, you only should have one knife for any uses in your kitchen. As long as you take good care of it and continue to sharpen it after each use, it will serve great purposes. Also, you should never put a sharp knife in the dishwasher as it tends to dull the blade and shorten the product’s lifespan.
Double Duty Mixing Bowls
One of the most used items in my kitchen especially is a mixing bowl that doubles as a serving dish. This way I am able to put together a salad or a pasta casserole without having to go through the mess of transferring meals from dish to dish and potentially spilling some of the food.
Cookie Trays
Who doesn’t love cookies? If your household is anything like mine, they are constantly in supply. That being said, of course you are in need of a quality cookie tray to bake your delicious treats on. Preferably, non-stick pans are the best because not only do they conduct heat well, but they also prevent your cookies from being ruined.
